Quick Start Guide OPNsense

How to connect to the appliance

To simplify initial access for customers, we configure the interfaces for LAN and WAN.

Access is restricted with a login:

Access Web interface

  • By default we configure the second Port port 2 with this IP 192.168.2.1/24. We have enabled the DHCP service on this interface.
  • Connect your computer with the interface.
  • Configure your computer either with DHCP or select an IP like 192.168.2.10
  • Access the Web Interface by pointing your browser to https://192.168.2.1.
  • Access is restricted with a login:

Serial console

If for some reason, you cannot use ethernet to connect to the Web interface, you can create a serial connection with a terminal programm.
Configure your terminal programm to use the following settings:

Speed115200bps
ParityNone
Data8
Stopbits1
tip

These settings are often predefined as 115200, 8N1.

How to reinstall the appliance

The appliances are supplied with the original OPNsense® system pre-installed. If you want to install OPNsense® on the appliance, please check the possible installation types first.

If your device has a serial port, please download the memstick (for serial communication). If your device has VGA/HDMI, download the appropriate installation image.

Install the image(s) as described in the OPNsense® installation guide.
